Kettler HKS Vito XL Elliptical Machine Review

Manufactured by outdoor equipment specialists, Kettler, the Vito XL Elliptical Trainer works to deliver a total-body workout without placing excessive stress on the joints. Its svelte, steel frame is both stable and lightweight and features a 45 lb drive system. By moving the handlebars and foot petals in tandem, users are prompted to shift from side to side in a ski-like motion with a 16” diameter stride. With its modifiable position, the 6” footplate provides utmost comfort for every user. The computerized, electronic display indicates time elapsed, distance, calories burned and level of resistance, while pads on the handlebars measure pulse rate.

The Vito XL measures 22 x 60 x 56 inches, weighs 150 lbs, and accommodates users up to 330 lbs. The market price is $1,539.00, but many websites offer promotional opportunities, indicating a median price from $1239.00 - $1250.00. There is a Lifetime Warranty on the frame, three years on parts and electronics, and one year on labor.  Since 1949, the company has grown from a small enterprise in Heinz Kettler's home town of Ense-Parsit in Germany into a world-wide manufacturing and marketing organization. They now sell products in 60 countries and employ over 2000 people.

Drawbacks: The Vito XL has a shorter stride length and lacks the variety of programs present in others of its kind.
